Guide On How To Create Good Quality Web Design

By Jill Tsai

It can feel very challenging to design a website! Compared with your competitors, how can you create an appealing design? How do you implement code? If you want to make your website both attractive and effective, you may find the advice laid out in this article very helpful.

You should use a good layout for the site, one that you are able to work with and is basic so it's easy for you to understand the foundation of the web design first. Begin with the basics and evolve your site as time goes on and you become more advanced in your capabilities and understanding of web design.

Always give viewers the option to cancel a current action. This could mean ordering products, opting in to an email newsletter, or returning to the homepage from deep within your site. If you do not give your users the option to cancel something, then you are making them do something, which can cause users to be leery of making future purchases or coming back to your website at all.

Put together a nice page about you or your organization and title it "About" or "About Us." These pages are often dull and uninteresting. Make this area of your website more exciting. Let people know about your background and experience, tell them how you started designing websites and show them examples of your achievements.

Have someone test your website out for functionality every step along the way. When adding new features, have a few people test it to make sure it functions like you want it to. A video that loads slowly may mean nothing to you, but someone else may disagree. Even more importantly, a video may load quickly for you, but not load at all for someone else. Ask someone who has no interest in flattering you to give you an honest opinion.

If you want to maximize the potential of your website design, ensure that your pages appear correctly on all web browsers, so any visitor can view them. A webpage that displays properly using Internet Explorer, could appear incorrectly or poorly on a different browser such as Firefox or Chrome. Test every page in each browser before you let your site go live.

Photoshop is a very effective and helpful tool when it comes to web design. Most people have not, however, heard about Dreamweaver and do not understand how it can benefit web designers; take a look at the program and figure out how it can assist you with your goals.

Avoid excessive use of pop-up windows. Even though you may find a reason to have them, your visitors will find them annoying. Many visitors to your site may simply exit the site when faced with a pop-up. If this happens, they are unlikely to return.

Be very careful to remove outdated content from your site. If the page a viewer clicks on is promoting something that happened a year ago, you just lost a reader. Readers want to read sites that are current. Keeping old information on your site demonstrates that your site lacks attention.` Set a schedule to review the site, to ensure that outdated information is removed, and fresh new content is added in its place.

The tips in this article should be very helpful in web design. Keep learning current techniques to be a better web designer.
